Location is optional
Location can put nearby places first, show distances and provide walking directions. Ordinary listings can still be read without sharing location.
The browser or device asks for permission before the website can receive a position.
What is saved
When location is enabled, the latest position may be kept temporarily in the website session and browser session storage. This helps nearby sorting and directions continue without asking again on every page.
The saved position is intended to be short lived. It is not used to build a permanent visitor location history.
Maps and routing services
- OpenStreetMap supplies map information and tiles.
- OpenStreetMap.de receives the start and destination coordinates when a walking route is requested.
- Photon may receive a destination address when that place still needs map coordinates.
- Google Maps opens only when the visitor chooses the external Google Maps link.
These external services receive the normal technical information associated with a web request and apply their own privacy arrangements.
Turn it off or clear it
- Refuse the browser permission request.
- Remove location permission later in browser or device settings.
- Close the page to stop live updates from that page.
